Tony Hachem

DVSRFC President 2022

Tony Hachem started his football journey with the DVSRFC back in 2012 as a player with the Over 35s Supers, where he has played close to 100 games, and was a member of the 2018 Premiership team.

Prior to joining Diamond Valley Magpies, Tony had an extensive playing CV, playing senior football at a number of clubs including Northcote Park, Reservoir, Pascoe Vale, Yarraville and St Albans Football clubs.

In Tony’s first year as coach back in 1990, he took Alphington Junior Football Club (under 17’s 1st Div) to its first premiership and in the following year he established the under 19’s at Northcote Park FC who went on to make finals. Since then their under 19s have won a number of premierships, and the Alphington Juniors FC have become part of the Northcote Park Football Club.

Tony was introduced to Super Rules Football back in 2007, when he joined the Melbourne Supers FC (now Port Melbourne Colts).

Tony had a strong desire to help the Diamond Valley club off field as well as on it, and in 2017 was elected Vice President of DVSRFC.

Through Tony’s extensive network he was able to recruit a number of high profile ex- AFL stars and local football stars to the club over the past five years to help build the club from the brink of merging with Plenty Valley back in 2017.

In 2020, Tony was elected President and led the club admirably through its most turbulent years as it dealt with the ongoing covid pandemic.

Tony’s company, Hachem Management Group, has sponsored the club for many years and in 2022 is the major sponsor.

Tony’s goal and vision for the club is to “continually build the success of this great club both on and off the field, and develop an amazing culture for all our members and supporters to enjoy for generations to come. We want to ensure that DVSRFC remains a respected powerhouse in the competition”.

Outside of football Tony is a well known former Team Australia PokerStars Pro player, best known for winning back-to-back Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) titles in 2009 and 2010. He is also the brother of 2005 World Series of Poker Champion Joe Hachem.

In 2011, Tony Hachem established Hachem Management Group (HMG) which is an events management company that accesses high-end celebrities from the television, music and sporting worlds, as well as media personalities, to entertain corporate clients while helping raise funds and awareness for various charities.

Apart from his love for the DV Magpies, Tony is also a devoted supporter of the Carlton Football Club.
